At Home

I’m a big advocate for self care. I think it’s essential for being your best self and staying physically and mentally healthy. In case you don’t know what self- care is, PsychCentral says it’s “any activity that we do deliberately in order to take care of our mental, emotional, and physical health.” They go on to say “Good self-care is key to improved mood and reduced anxiety. It’s also key to a good relationship with oneself and others.” Self care is something that refuels us. It should be...

I wanted to take this summer to really make reading a priority. I looked over Amazon, Good Reads and other boards to see what everyone was reading this summer and came up with my own list. Some are completely new to me and others I’ve read before but need to get back into. Here is my summer reading list for 2017....

During Summer when the days are so long and the weather so nice (or extremely hot if you’re in Texas) I think it’s a great time to plan date nights for you and your partner. If you’re like me you have a little one that is pretty attached to you at all times. Not only is Andrew attached to me, we also don’t have any family around to watch him for an hour or two (and I’m not quite ready to leave him with anyone else). So if...

If you follow me on social media (and you definitely should), or you’ve just noticed a change in the website content, then you know that I have added a new travel companion to the A Wandering Scribbler team. This companion isn’t going to be doing too much work around here, but he sure will be a cute addition to my photos and will inspire much of what I write about....

I’m pretty lucky that my husband’s job takes us to new places every few years. I love going to new states or countries and learning about what’s around me. Most recently we were brought to Texas. Not exactly my first choice of places to live, but still… I’m always up for something new....

A Hospital Packing List is necessary for any pregnant lady.  You need to get ready for birth and having a packing list is a great way to make sure you have everything you need....

Everyone who works from home should have a great office.  Even if you're not exactly rolling in the dough you can still have a functioning office to keep the house running, have a place where kids can do work, or just an escape to go watch youtube videos (I do way too much of that)....

Am I the only one who loves seeing people’s daily routines? Hopefully not, because I’ve made my own A Day in the Life for everyone to enjoy. I found that writing this was a really interesting look at my own day and definitely made me see where I could improve and what ways I could be more productive. I read over some other posts like this from Happy Healthy Mama, Blair Blogs, Gimme Some Oven, and The Balanced Life for inspiration. Take a look at their posts for...

Travel apps are a great way to ease the stresses of travel. I've chosen a few of my favorites that I love to use while I'm on the road, and sometimes at home to make life easier. Most of these are free, so they're easy on your wallet. If you're like me and you're attached to your phone, you probably have your own favorite apps. You've probably heard of a few of these, but hopefully I can give you a few new ones to add...

Working from home as so many benefits. I can work when (for the most part) and how I want (for the most part).  I can choose to wear pajamas, sit outside with a cat on my lap, take a long lunch, take a nap… whatever. I love that I don’t have to ask someone for the day off, or to leave early on Friday. I don’t have to work around anyone else’s schedule. Except for in a few months when I have this baby—but we’ll talk about that another...
