A family holiday is perhaps an ambitious feat, especially when it’s your first time. There’s a whole new level of preparation to undertake, as well as potential for stress and conflict between you all. Don’t let it be that way. I’m a big advocate for self care. I think it’s essential for being your best self and staying physically and mentally healthy. In case you don’t know what self- care is, PsychCentral says it’s “any activity that we do deliberately in order to take care of our mental, emotional, and physical health.” They go on to say “Good self-care is key to improved mood and reduced anxiety. It’s also key to a good relationship with oneself and others.” Self care is something that refuels us. It should be something we enjoy doing and get pleasure from.

In September 2015 I climbed Kilimanjaro. I'm finally getting around to writing about it, but it was one of the most fulfilling things I’ve ever done. I'll write a longer post about my actual experience, but right now, I want to talk about my Kilimanjaro Packing List and what I think was essential for my [...]
The Four Corners, if you don’t already know, is the meeting of four states: Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico, and it’s the only place in the U.S. like it. It’s located on Navajo land and out in the middle of nowhere. Steve and I visited during our Southwest road trip when he was living [...]
