Must-Have Japanese Stationery

Must-Have Japanese Stationery

After living in Japan for a few months I started to learn how amazing their stationery is. As someone who has always had a love of pens and notebooks, I don't know how I've gone this far in life not knowing Japanese stationery is as amazing as it is.  So, if you're...

Travel Podcasts to Listen to At Home

Being at home while you want to be out exploring the world can leave you feeling stuck.  When you’re TOLD to be home, it’s even worse.  Everything in your body is telling you to get out of the house, get off the couch, run to your nearest airport.  But,...

A Very Basic Guide to Japanese

A Very Basic Guide to Japanese

If you’re heading to Japan it’s really important to learn at least a little of the language.  Not only will it help you better interact with people, but it’ll be easier to navigate your way around the world.  While Tokyo usually has important signs in both...

January Favorites

Here we are with another monthly favorites post.  I love reading what other people are into, probably weird, but I thought I would hop on this trend both to capture what I'm loving at the moment and to give others ideas of new products (or non-physical things)...

Book Your Trip Now!

Below are my favorite companies I use when I plan our travels.  They are a great starting point when I want to book a flight, hotel, or tour!

  • Skyscanner – Skyscanner is a great flight search engine which searches a lot of different airlines, including many of the budget carriers that larger sites miss. While I always start with Google flights, I use this site too as a way to compare prices.
  • Airbnb – Airbnb is a great accommodation alternative for connecting with homeowners who rent out their homes or apartments. The big cities have tons of listings! (If you’re new to Airbnb, get $35 off your first stay!)
  • Hostelworld – This is the best hostel accommodation site out there, with the largest inventory, best search interface, and widest availability.
  • Booking.com – Booking probably has the widest selection of budget accommodation in the world. In our studies, they constntly found the cheapest rooms. I lso like their easy to use interface and no money down policy.
  • G Adventures
  • Intrepid Travel– If you want to do a group tour around Southern Asia, go with Intrepid Travel. They offer good small group tours that use local operators and leave a small environmental footprint. If you go on a tour with anyone, go with them. And, as a reader of this site, you’ll get exclusive discounts when you click the link!
  • World Nomads – I buy all my travel insurance from World Nomads. They have great customer service, competitive prices, and in-depth coverage. Don’t leave home without it!
  • Kiwi– This is a helpful airline booking tool that makes it easier to find flights that are within your budget.
